Discover Sri Lanka & East Coast
Our representative will pick up the guests from Colombo International airport (CMB) or from a designated hotel and drive to Galle. We will visit the famous Galle Fort, a Unesco world heritage site, built by the Dutch in the 17th century.
We will enjoy a morning river boat excursion among mangroves, flora and fauna, followed by a visit to a turtle hatchery and rescue center. Afterwards, we take the scenic road to Yala where the traditional and modern fishing takes place side by side.
Early morning we will go on a jeep safari to the Yala National Park and then take the road to the picturesque village of Ella, where we will visit the nine arch stone railway bridge, little Sri Padya viewpoint and Rawana waterfall.
In the morning, we will make a classic train journey from Ella to Nanu Oya stations. Then we will drive to Nuwara Eliya, center of tea industry during the British colonial era. In the afternoon we can take a trekking through the tea plantations to Lover`s Leap waterfall.
Night: Nuwara Eliya
We will take the scenic mountain road via lush tea plantations, visiting a tea factory and a taste of cup of Ceylon tea. We will visit the Ramboda waterfall and arrive to Kandy, the last royal capital of the island and a Unesco world heritage site.
A tour of the Kandy city will cover morning visit to the famous Sri Dalada Maligawa temple and other historic buildings from the Kandyan era, the Kandy Lake, the market, the viewpoint.
We will leave Kandy towards Sigiriya. On the way we will visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, Unesco world heritage site. Optional visits include Nalanda Gedigee Temple (vaulted) and the National Spice Garden.
Morning visit will be to Anuradhapura ancient city, a Unesco world heritage site and Minhintale monastic complex, the cradle of Buddism in Sri Lanka. The visit covers the famous temples of Ruwanwelisaya, Jethavanaramaya, Abayagiriya, the Sri Maha Bodiya (Sacred Bo Tree), the Samadhi Buddha statue, Elephant Pond and Kuttam Pond (Twin Baths), major irrigation reservoirs etc. There will be also an opportunity to see Buddhist pilgrims visiting the sacred sites and traditional rural agricultural life in this arid zone of the island. On our return to hotel, guests can indulge themselves with a traditional Ayurveda treatment of medicinal oils and a steam bath of herbal leaves.
Early morning visit is to climb the rock fortress of Sigiriya, Unesco world heritage site,which shows the wonders of ancient Sinhalese landscape gardening, hydrology, engineering, architecture and paintings.
Afterwards we will go on a jeep safari to one of the three adjoining parks Minneriya / Kaudulla / Eco where we can see the large herds of elephants.
The morning visit will be to Polonnaruva ancient city, a Unesco world heritage site covering the royal citadel, Sacred Relic area, the exquisitely carved stone statues of the Gal Vihara, among others. The gigantic irrigation reservoir of Parakrama Samudraya offers a welcome cool breeze to the visitor. Then we will continue towards the East coast
Days of leisure at the beach. Optional visits include Pigeon Island National Park, Trincomalee fort, Koneshwaram hindu kovil, Kinniya hot water wells.
Drive to Negombo, traditional fishing village and resort. A beach visit to dry fish cottage industry is optional.
